Literary Award Winners Announced

The National Literary Awards Foundation yesterday announced its list of this year's literary prizes winners. An awards presentation ceremony will be held this afternoon at the Chinese Armed Forces Officer's Club. Vice President Lee Teng-hui will lead the ceremony.

The 11 winners are: Literary theory – Wu Mu-feng, Chia Yi-ti, and Chang Tzu-chang; Essay – Pu Nan-fu, Chiang Pao-chen, and Pan Hsi-chen; Fiction – Yen Ting-yun; Journalism literature – Chang Yi and Fu Pei-jung; Biographical literature – Yu Heng; Music – Cheng Su-sheng.

Meanwhile, Miss Kuo Hsiao-chuang, a well-known Peking Opera prima donna, will receive a special award in recognition of her contributions to the promotion of Peking Opera. Three renowned professors, Yen Shui-lung, Wang Meng-ou and Yang San-lang, will be presented special contribution awards for distinguished service in literary education.
