Ms. Kuo Hsiao-chuang To Star in New Opera Miss Kuo Hsiao-chang, the leading spirit in the Ya Yin Hsiao Chi troupe, will introduce a new Chinese opera on May 7-9. “Liang Shao-po and Chu Ying-tai,” the Chinese version of “Romeo and Juliet,” is written by Prof. Meng Yao. The lyrics are highly literary in poetic form. The stage presentation will be a mixture of traditional Chinese opera and the Western theatrical art. Miss Kuo will play the role of Chu Ying-tai, while Tsao Fu-yung will portray Liang Shao-po. On May 10, Miss Kuo will present for the fifth time the opera “Yang Pa-mei” by the late Prof. Yu Ta-kang. Tickets priced at NT$50, NT$100, NT$150, NT$200 and NT$250 are now on sale at Kung Hsueh She, Caves Bookstore, and other major music outlets in Taipei. |
