Opera program slated at Dr. Sun Memorial

The Cloud Gate Ensemble will give a three-day performance from April 28 to 30 at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of the late playwright Yu Takang.

Programs will include a choreographical performance given by the ensemble on April 28 and Chinese operas by noted diva Kuo Hsiao-chuang and actors Wu Chien-hung, Wang Ming-yung, Hsiao Ming-kao plus other on April 29 and 30th.

“Hades’ Way,” “Bride-to-be,” “Country Melody,” and “A Tale of the White Snake” constitute the program of the first day while the opera” “The Yu Sister of The Red Chamber” and “Wang Hui Deserts Kuei Ying” will be the second and the last day feature programs.

An introduction to and review of the contents of the Chinese operas will be published before the operas are staged.

Tickets priced at NT$30, NT$50, NT$80, NT$100, NT$150 and NT$200 are available at Kung Hsueh She, Talu Bookstore, Taisheng Muslcal Instrument Company, Nation Bookstore at Kung Kuan and Yu Ying Musical Instrument Company.

In the meantime, the ensemble will hold its first touring performance of Southern Taiwan from May 6 to May 13.

Programs include famed choreography such as “A Tale of the white Snake,” "Country Melody” and others. Schedules are as follows:
－May 6 and 7, 7 p.m. at Kaohsiung Teachers’ College.
－May 9 and 10, 7 p.m. at the recreation hall of the Chung Cheng Library in Tainan city.
－May 13, p.m. at the auditorium of the Chiayi Senior High School for girls in Chiayi city.
